What are the appropriate types of materials for banners to be printed on with these retractable systems.

From a mechanical standpoint, you need to use a banner material that's flexible, not too thick, and tear resistant. We recommend materials up to about 15 mil thick, but a thicker material that's very flexible would still work, and a thinner material that's too stiff to roll up tightly would be a problem, so keep that in mind. You'll also want to use something that doesn't need hemming, as the banner needs a uniform thickness to roll up properly, and hems or other edge treatments would cause problems.

From a visual standpoint, a material that's smooth and will hang flat without curling on the edges is best. Most materials have a little curl, but materials that curl significantly should be avoided. An opaque material is also a good idea as well so light from behind doesn't show a shadow of the support pole on the face of the graphic.

Obviously, we can print the banner for you on one of the material options we offer, which have all be thoroughly tested. The advantage to that, other than the high quality we offer, is the banners come installed and ready to use, but many people arrange their own printing for various reasons.

How important is the elastic that holds the poles together for strength of the pole? I would like to remove the center pole for ease of use both on tabletop and on the ground.

It's not important. It's just to keep all the sections together so you don't lose one. We typically remove the bottom section when we sell the QuickSilver 24 for table top use, so the range is more appropriate for a table, but you can remove any of the sections.

How do you remove the elastic connector without damaging it? For tabletop applications.

You have to cut it to remove it, so it won't be usable anymore once you do that, but the pole will still function the same way. You just have to make sure you don't lose any of the separate pole sections once they're no longer connected.

QuickSilver Pro retractable banner stands are our most popular style. This is a stand we engineered from scratch to create an affordable stand with the advanced features we liked best in more expensive models. The QuickSilver Pro has been so popular that our competitors have created look alike models, but don't be fooled because those other stands don't offer the same value. QuickSilver Pro 24 has adjustable height from 51" to 92" so that it can be for anything from a tabletop display to a full height floor standing banner display. To make it easier to adjust the height, it has lever locks on the telescopic pole, which is a feature normally only found on high end models. It also has a tension adjustment control that makes it easy to add tension, or completely re-tension a banner should it ever come loose during shipping or when changing the banner. Without this feature, you could have to disassemble the entire stand or send it back for repair, which is common with other models.

Also called pull up banner stands, this style of banner display features a spring loaded roller that holds the banner under tension, and rolls it safely into the base for storage between uses. The QuickSilver Pro features a snap style top rail and low profile velcro attachment to a fabric leader on the roller. The velcro makes for quick and easy banner changes, and the fabric leader will never crack or tear like plastic leaders, making the stand more reliable over time. The QuickSilver Pro also offers chromed plastic end caps that attach with magnets for a finished look, and adjustable feet to help level the stand on uneven surfaces.

Banner options are shown at the most popular visible heights of 72", 84" and 92", but other heights can be ordered by selecting the stand without a banner, then choosing a banner from the from the Related items tab or by going to the Replacement Banners section.

The QuickSilver Pro comes in 6 different widths to satisfy the need for almost any size of display. It comes complete with a deluxe suitcase style travel bag with adjustable shoulder strap.

An upgrade from the QuickSilver Pro 24 would be the Infinity 24. The Infinity is a high quality model with a lifetime warranty that features a removable roller with both snap rail and panel strip banner attachment and a fixed height of 84.6"

Looking for a less expensive model?

The Metro 24 would the closest in size to the QuickSilver Pro 24 in a less expensive model, and it come in silver and black. The Metro 24 has a swing out foot for stability, and there is no less expensive model that does not require a foot. The Metro 24 has a fixed height of 78" and is a simpler model without the advanced features of the QuickSilver Pro, but it does have a lifetime warranty.
